I didn’t feel unwell or have any noticeable symptoms, I just had occasional mild acid reflux and then I found it hard to swallow the first few mouthfuls.
Endoscopy diagnosed the reason for my difficulty in swallowing and a persistent cough: 3cm malignant carcinoma of the oesophagus, Stage 3.
Having experienced almost no illness in my long and distinguished career as a human being, I was somewhat surprised to be told, following an endoscopy, “You have Cancer”.
When I started having difficulty swallowing in July 2019, I had no idea that there was anything wrong.
